The latest bit of dieting research says that, on average, women think about calorie counting/food/diets for 87 minutes each day. Is that you?

The latest bit of dieting research says that, on average, women think about calorie counting/food/diets for 87 minutes each day.

So, if that’s the average, that means there are lots of people who think about food for far longer than that. I guess the fact you are reading this means you are above this 87 minutes mark.

Some people have obviously got to be on the other side of the equation and think about food far less. People who don’t have an eating problem simply can’t understand why anyone would think about food so much, but a problem eater is often consumed by it. Sorry about the pun.

I like research like this because it does highlight what is going on, but the question is what do we do with it? Usually not much, it hits the headlines for while and has its 10 minutes of fame and then we wait for the next headline.

So let’s do something useful with it and use it to help you on your journey. If you are a Toolkit Member here is an Emergency Breakdown audio for you on how to cut this 87 minutes down.

Do you spend your life counting calories? May be that's a good thing!

Counting calories is tiresome isn’t it? So most people don’t like doing it.

The trouble is, if you are not paying attention, those extra calories really start to add up: 50 here, 121 there and so on until, somehow, you are eating far more than you think you are.

It’s like most peoples bank accounts: £20 spent there, £12 here, £52.75 there and all of a sudden … where did it go?

If you just keep an eye on those extra little bits then at the end of a week you will be astonished at how much you did not eat.

Top tip to keep you motivated: Keep a log of all the things you said, “I don’t need you” in your Journal then do a quick tot up at the end of the week to see how many calories you are not carrying on your hips. How good would you feel then!

Make a game of it, have some fun.
