Meet Stephen
Hi, my name is Stephen Bates,

My main priority is to improve results and, quite frankly, don’t care if that means throwing away years of perceived wisdom or expensive training if I come across a better way of doing things.
Over the years I’ve brought this way of thinking in to many areas of my life, both in my career as a health professional (physiotherapist and complementary health practitioner/teacher), and in the field of business and personal development as an NLP trainer and coach (although I really dislike that last word!).
Seeing the connections between these areas and understanding how they can benefit or damage each other is something I consider to be my main strength and skill.
In fact the feedback we receive is usually along the lines of how I have managed to cut through what appears to be a complicated matter to find the simple underlying truths. As a result clients and course delegates often say, with a surprised look on their face, “It’s obvious now you put it like that!” or “Now I understand why I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing!”
“Two words: Totally awesome. Totally awesome at what he does as a trainer and a personal coach. He is thorough, expert, flexible, conscientious, a fantastic communicator and does what ever it takes to get the results you need. I live in Canada and still use Stephen (even though it costs me double with the exchange rate) because i have never found anyone since, who is as good at what he does.”

Over the last 15 years of thousands of hours working face to face with people, weight management was a subject that just kept coming up so I decided to set about answering the questions that no-one else seemed to have answered yet. After all, if more and more people are getting more and more overweight it’s obvious the ‘traditional’ thinking behind dieting and weight loss simply doesn’t work.
My approach is to focus on what does work and so the How Many Calories system was born.
You may be familiar with a well known quote that goes something along the lines of, “If you keep doing the same thing you’ll keep getting the same result.” Well, that’s pretty much the principle behind How Many Calories. In other words, if you still haven’t got the result you want it’s time to do something different.
This approach is the same one I use for whatever issue people ask me to help them with. It’s about concentrating on what really does work and not trying to make what doesn’t work somehow work.
However, sometimes it can be uncomfortable to throw away what you have been led to believe is the right way to do something, even when you know it’s obviously not working.
By looking at what successful people do
I can help you get the results too.
Some people will take a look at this website and not believe it can work. Some will not want it to work. Many will join in and allow themselves to finally end their weight journey once and for all.
I would love to tell you that I can make you slim but it’s just not true. Only you can do that. I can show you how though if you want me to.
So it’s over to you now, do you want some real help?
Stephen
“Stephen is genuinely a very rare individual – he has a unique mix of capabilities and experience that make him a very powerful and highly capable trainer and coach. His mastery of his fields (not just training but also NLP, Amatsu, martial arts, etc.) is truly outstanding and reflect his level of commitment to whatever he takes on. His ability to work with people (both to resolve major issues, business or personal, as well as to bring out and develop their capabilities and skills) is truly outstanding, though generally achieved without you even noticing most of what he does. The outcomes I have seen him achieve are frankly amazing. This is, though not a miracle, the result of his talent, skill, dedication, hard work and focus – it’s just he makes it look easy!”
