16% more calories

Now we are in trouble!

The research boffins have said that the amount of calories people can eat may be wrong and actually we could all eat another 16% and still stay slim.

Okay fair enough, the numbers may have been miscalculated 19 years ago, but they are largely irrelevant anyway.

Most people don’t count calories that accurately. And I would say it’s probably not a good idea to do so as it can lead to becoming obsessed and thinking about food more than you already do.

The best way of judging the right calories for you is based on whether your weight is stable, going up or down.

We all know when we have eaten too much and the evidence is pretty obvious on our hips, bums and tums. So my advice is forget about the numbers and listen to your body.

Your body will tell you how much you really need then use the Toolkit to understand why you want to over eat in the first place.

One last thought

Are the naturally slim people out their going to pay as much attention to this latest piece of dieting trivia as people with an eating problem? I get the feeling they won’t care at all because they don’t think of the amount of calories they eat anyway.

They just eat what is right for them and spend their time thinking about more interesting things.
